[18F] fluorocholine
Therapeutic indications
IASOcholine is a diagnostic reagent for the positron emission tomography (PET) and is administered prior to such an examination.
The radioactive agent of IASOcholine enables the graphic representation of an increased intake of the naturally occurring substance choline in specific organs or tissues and is recorded by the PET and displayed as an image.
In particular, the following indications were documented for PET with fluorocholine (18F):
- Prostate cancer
- Detection of bone metastases with regard to prostate cancer
Hepatocellular carcinoma
- Localisation of lesions in well differentiated hepatocellular carcinoma
- Characterisation of liver knots and/or “staging“ of hepatocellular carcinoma, if PET with FDG is not conclusive and/or a surgical procedure is scheduled
